About
You are not alone in this text.
PassTheVerse is a small, non-commercial project built on one conviction: that reading scripture alone is harder than it needs to be, and that a sentence from a stranger can be a quiet kind of companionship.
What it is
You browse a verse. You write one sentence — what it meant to you, what you're wrestling with, what you remember. You get back a handful of notes from other real people in other countries who read the same verse. No threads to moderate, no notifications to manage. Just the reminder that someone else has been here before.
What it isn't
- Not a study tool. There's no commentary, no cross-references, no original-language helps. PassTheVerse is a social layer on top of reading, not a replacement for it.
- Not a community. There are no profiles, no followers, no inbox. You show up, leave a note, read a few, and close the tab.
- Not commercial. No ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no data sold.
Why it's free
Because scripture isn't something that should cost money to read, and because what we make here is worth more when it isn't measured by engagement. Running costs are covered by the maintainers. If the project outgrows their pockets, a modest donation link may appear — nothing intrusive, nothing required.
Bible translations
V1 ships with four public-domain English translations (KJV, ASV, WEB, YLT) and one Spanish (Reina-Valera), served from our own database. We're also working toward access to modern translations via API.Bible — when that lands, full copyright and citation notices will be displayed alongside every verse from those sources.
